Heath Slater was never going to be WWE World Heavyweight Champion, or even United States Champion, but hes carved a very specific niche for himself in WWE. Alongside his stablemates in 3MB, they were incredibly popular considering their spot on the card, and worked their butts off in segments that would have been unbearable in anyone elses hands. Thursday June 12th, 2014 has now become known as Black Thursday among WWE fans, as ten wrestlers and a referee were released one-at-a-time over the course of the day. Included in that list was Slaters 3MB bandmates, Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre, leaving him a one man band once again. Heath Slater was left adrift in the WWE roster, and for a few weeks was stuck coming out with the old 3MB music, a depressing reminder to fans of better times. He was thrown in with Titus ONeil as the odd couple tag team Slator Gator, and while theyve been incredibly entertaining its obvious theyre together because they WWE had nothing else for them. Slaters year hasnt been entirely bad, as he did pick up a pinfall victory over Seth Rollins thanks to Dean Ambrose, but for someone that works as hard as he does hes far too overlooked. It might have been better if he released alongside his bandmates, as he could likely make a better living on the independents and show WWE just what theyre missing.
