At the start of the year, Emma was an absolute star in NXT and was having incredible matches on a weekly basis. Her NXT Womens Championship match against Paige at NXT Arrival was universally praised as one of the best womens matches WWE has ever put on and the future seemed bright for both future Divas. Unfortunately, while Paige was brought in and treated like a big deal, Emma was coupled up with Saninto and given her own pink Cobra sock puppet. The WWE writers saw that Emma had a goofier side and decided she was a comedy character, and thats all she could ever be. Then on June 30th, Emma was arrested for shoplifting an iPad case from a Walmart in Hartford, Connecticut and on July 2nd she was released from her WWE contract. Fans leapt to Twitter to highlight WWEs hypocrisy in the decision, considering how they reacted to higher-profile talent who committed arguably worse crimes. Emma was reinstated later that day upon further evaluation, but the effect its had on her career has been disastrous. Shes only been on Raw three times since her arrest, all in losing efforts, and even though she wasnt released this time, it may only be a matter of time.
