10 Superstars WWE Tried To Push In 2017 (But Failed Miserably)

7. Apollo Crews

Apollo Crews appeared to be on the fast track to the top when he first arrived in NXT in August 2015, so what went wrong?

Well, a lack of character development and a premature call-up to the main roster were certainly among the reasons why. In so many words, he has been a bust in WWE - and the several start-and-stop pushes haven't helped his cause.

Putting him in a rivalry with Dolph Ziggler at the onset of 2017 should have gotten him back on the right track, but no one came out of that looking good. Thus, he continued to flounder. Then, he was paired off with Titus O'Neil as a member of Titus Worldwide. The group was basically doomed to fail before it even began due to O'Neil's involvement with it.

When Crews shockingly (and we say that sarcastically) didn't manage to get over through his partnership with O'Neil, WWE abandoned his push and cut short any momentum he might have had. He's basically been a jobber to the stars ever since, and not at the Intercontinental Championship level he should be.
