10 Superstars WWE Tried To Push In 2017 (But Failed Miserably)

6. Kalisto

Similar to Apollo Crews, Kalisto had a promising start to 2017 when he and Crews were placed in a program with Dolph Ziggler. As previously noted, however, that feud was a massive waste of time, and did nothing to benefit anyone involved.

Kalisto joined Crews on Raw mere months later as a result of the Superstar Shake-up. Although his stint on SmackDown Live was largely forgettable, he at least received consistent television time and had a few feuds. On Raw, that was far from the case, as he instead appeared on occasion and lost to the likes of Braun Strowman and Elias.

WWE finally put him in the Cruiserweight division in early October 2017, but by that point, it was way too late. The show had no buzz to begin with, but Kalisto replacing Neville as the face of 205 Live was the equivalent to getting your bowl of Booty-Os taken away in return for a bowl of spinach.

The lack of reaction to his Cruiserweight debut didn't stop WWE from putting the Cruiserweight Championship on him, a reign that lasted all of two weeks. He's much more at home on 205 Live as opposed to on Raw, but fans have virtually no reason to invest in him at all.
