10 Surprises WWE Could Pull At Extreme Rules 2018

2. Dean Ambrose Returns

The current line on Dean Ambrose's WWE return is that he'll most likely show up sometime after SummerSlam. Dave Meltzer said "the end of summer" in this week's Observer, and his word alone is usually enough to crater the odds.

Still, Meltzer isn't infallible, and even if he does truthfully believe that Ambrose won't show up until August or September, there's every chance he's being fed a line by his WWE sources. That means we can't rule completely rule out an Extreme Rules appearance, though it isn't likely.

The table-setting would be straightforward. Victory over Seth Rollins on this week's Raw prevented Drew McIntyre's ringside ban during 'The Kingslayer's' Intercontinental Title match with Dolph Ziggler. WWE wouldn't have booked that bout if the Scotsman wasn't going to have an influence, so regardless of whether it takes place during the Iron Man match or after, expect a two-on-one situation.

This would be the ideal spot for Ambrose to charge out for the save, drawing a massive pop from the audience as he prevents McIntyre and Ziggler for kicking his mate's head in, setting them up for a potential tag feud through SummerSlam.
