10 Tag Team Wrestlers Who Left Their Partner For Better Things
8. Scott Steiner
Tag Team: The Steiner Brothers The Steiner Brothers had huge versatility in the ring; they could grapple, brawl and were highly energetic. Not only that, but they were also extremely safe workers and rarely botched a move; yep believe it or not, Scott Steiner was once a very thoughtful and precise wrestler. In fact, he was also the more agile member of the team, whilst Rick was the brute strength. Agility was seemingly another trait Scott left behind in the 90s. After almost ten years as a duo, the pair finally went their separate ways. At the time of the split, the rivalry between WCW and WWE was more heated than ever before; meaning that talented wrestling was priority number two, behind gripping storylines and controversial characters. Rick Steiners wrestling persona suddenly became dated and he was therefore no longer considered a key member of the roster. Scott Steiner on the other hand completely reinvented himself. He renamed himself Big Poppa Pump and became an extremely aggressive, outspoken heel with bleach blonde hair and freakishly large muscles. His new character was essentially perfect for the time period. He was a huge draw in WCW and eventually won the World Heavyweight Championship in 2000. Steiner would have a run in WWE a few years later, but his ability within the ring had declined dramatically and he moved from the main event picture to a mid-card wrestler faster than you can say steroid abuse.
