10 Tag Team Wrestlers Who Left Their Partner For Better Things
7. Billy Gunn
Tag Team: The Smoking Gunns Billy Gunn has spent the majority of his WWE career working as a tag team competitor; a division that frankly he has dominated more than anyone else. He has held one half of the World Tag Team Championships for a combined total of 916 days with a variety of partners. That is more days than Roman Reigns has even been in the WWE! Before the New Age Outlaws, D-Generation X and Billy & Chuck, came The Smoking Gunns. Billy was introduced to the world as a redneck cowboy with a silly moustache alongside kayfabe brother, Bart. The team had moderate success but during a transitional period for the tag division, making the competition weaker than in previous years; its debatable whether this benefitted or obstructed the duos progression. After the pair split, Bart Gunn had a boxing match at WrestleMania XV against professional heavyweight boxer, Butterbean. Unsurprising, Gunn was knocked out within the first round; which was soon followed by his release from the WWE. He spent the majority of the rest of his career in Japan, which is not uncommon amongst wrestlers released by the big American companies. However, while Bart was never able to cement his place as a permanent member of the WWE roster in the way Billy did; Bart could clearly grow a better moustache than Billy. So who was the real winner?
