10 Tag Teams That Should Never Have Worked (But Did)

8. Kane & X-Pac

A 12-time WWE Tag Team Champion with seven different partners, Kane's prosperity in the division speaks volumes of his versatility. What's most notable about his success is that aside from The Undertaker, none of his tag pairings made sense on paper, and his affiliation with X-Pac stands as one of the most stupefying.

They were chalk and cheese. One was a hulking, hellish monster whose aura had already taken a dent, but was still the most intimidating guy on the roster, while the other was a wiry, scuzzy degenerate. They were paired in the wake of Kane's 1998 ejection from the Corporation, and while it's tough to call much of their work together objectively good (Kane's first words - a croaked "suck it" - were particularly damaging), the union kept both relevant through one of Attitude's most chaotic periods.

The tag team fell apart when Pac tricked Kane into thinking he'd be allowed to join the reunited D-Generation X in 1999, before sticking a knife in his back, then compounding the misery by stealing his girlfriend, Tori. A lengthy feud followed, and while Kane & X-Pac's creative output was often questionable, their tag team traction is undeniable.
