10 Talented Wrestlers Let Down By Lame Gimmicks

Anyone who slavishly trawled wrestling forums online during the early years of the new millennium would have become accustomed with the name Nick Dinsmore; whether true or not, many users routinely name-checked Dinsmore as a wrestler destined to make a splash in WWE when he was inevitably called up from OVW.

These fans reasoned that Dinsmore was one of the best wrestlers in the promotion's developmental system, and there was much merriment when the former 8-time (at that point) OVW Heavyweight Champ was called up to the main roster in 2004.

That buzz stopped dead when it was revealed that Dinsmore would play the role of Eugene, the mentally handicapped nephew of Raw GM Eric Bischoff.

Displaying many stereotypical traits associated with the mentally challenged, Eugene was considered out there in some circles and downright offensive in others. This outcry missed one of the most pressing points, that being the fact that Dinsmore was now typecast and would be unable to shed such a gimmick during his WWE career.

Dinsmore may have played Eugene faultlessly, but it left some uncomfortable - and also ruined a promising career.
