10 Terrible Managers From WWE's Past
1. Momma Benjamin
There's no two ways around it - this one stings. Shelton Benjamin was one of the brightest rising stars in WWE after building on his time in The World's Greatest Tag Team to some stellar singles runs with the likes of Chris Jericho and Triple H. Much like with Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko years prior, WWE knew how talented Benjamin was in the ring but they had their doubts over his ability to talk.
In a seemingly woeful attempt to cash in on the mild success of films such as "Big Momma's House" and "The Nutty Professor" Benjamin was paired with his smack talking "Momma" who lambasted him for being too soft on his opponents. Momma Benjamin would yell at her son's rivals and take part in some typical WWE basement level comedy sketches of the time with the likes of Goldust and Big Show. Benjamin would recover slightly with his "Gold Standard" gimmick but his time with his "Momma" definitely undermined the starlet's push.
Looking on the bright side, If it wasn't for this angle you wouldn't be able to read results that contain sentences such as :
Mama Benjamin faked a heart attack and Shelton whacked Ric Flair with the oxygen tank and pinned him to win the title!
