10 Terrible Wrestling Matches You MUST Watch!
3. Shawn Michaels vs. Hulk Hogan (WWE SummerSlam 2005)
Though neither Hulk Hogan nor Shawn Michaels were at the height of their political powers in 2005, pairing two of wrestling's most infamous backstage string-pullers up and expecting a clean outcome is always a risk, no matter the year. Rarely has behind-the-scenes bullsh*ttery manifested so hilariously on pay-per-view as it did at SummerSlam '05, though.
Michaels originally floated the idea of working Hogan in a three-match series. This was supposed to be the first, with HBK's desire to see if he could compete against the pro wrestling legend driving the story, but it ended up the last as Michaels visibly protested the decision to have Hulk go over with the most infamous overselling performance you'll find on WWE Network.
Shawn was a hoot. He'd have sold a slight breeze like a mortar blast that night. Flinging himself around the ring as if the ageing Hogan had thunder in his fists and springs at the end of his boots, his performance was comical in defeat, registering more as a dramatic recreation of a salmon trying to leap upstream than pro wrestling.
