10 Terrible Wrestling Moments (That Were Almost Even Worse)

2. The Invasion

No.

Surely the Invasion couldn't have gone any worse?

It was less a war between the WWF and WWECW than a battle between Vince McMahon's big victorious cack and Dubya See Dubya's little third b*llock. DDP was repackaged as a simp, Booker T became an imbecile, and they were the only acts resembling the real article. The rest of the Alliance were total geeks, with the lone exception of Rob Van Dam, and the worst version of the Steve Austin character was ironically positioned as a plaster when his turn in itself haemorrhaged the WWF's household popularity. The only thing this inter-promotional dream programme had in common with a pipe is that it was full of sh*t.

But leave it to Vince Russo to book something worse.

His idea - which mercifully never materialised, since he was binned the second it left his mouth following an ill-fated 2002 pitch meeting - was to install Eric Bischoff as a snake authority figure who would stealthily reassemble the WCW roster to launch a second invasion. The problem with Bischoff hiring Booker T on a "one year deal" to quietly launch this plan is that Booker had already been there for 12 months.

Revealing himself to not be remotely up to date with the product, Vince Russo was laughed out of Titan Towers.
