10 Terrible WWE Ultimatums From Vince McMahon
6. The Nexus
The 7 June 2010 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw witnessed the destructive debut of The Nexus, a villainous faction comprised of the NXT Season 1 rookies, led by the season winner Wade Barrett. The group appeared during the main event and attacked John Cena, CM Punk, and Luke Gallows. They also took out the commentators, the ring announcer, and other ringside personnel and vandalised the ring.
Following their debut, The Nexus solidified their heel status by attacking several wrestlers and legends like Bret Hart, Ricky Steamboat, and Dusty Rhodes, and even Vince McMahon. Since WWE had big plans for the faction, McMahon wanted these attack segments to be perfect. Darren Young, who was part of the original group, recalled a meeting The Nexus members had with him during an appearance on WWE's The Bump.
McMahon reportedly went straight to the point and did not sugarcoat anything when he discussed how he wanted everything to unfold. His ultimatum to the wrestlers was to make the attack segments look good or risk getting fired. While WWE did release Daniel Bryan after some backlash over him strangling Justin Roberts during the Nexus' debut, the company reinstated him soon. Besides that, the Nexus members continued their dominant run on WWE television until they crossed paths with Super Cena.
