10 Things AEW Can Learn From WCW Nitro's Debut

1. Act Like You’re It

Throughout the entire 60-minute duration of the first Nitro, Bischoff, Heenan and McMichael constantly pushed the WCW agenda. They said Nitro was "where it's at", had "the best athletes in the world" and also teased a few digs at Monday Night Raw's stale formula into the bargain.

The announcers, excitable audience, motivated performances from the roster and slick production all added to the thought that WCW might actually be number one. They weren't, but they acted like they were. This is another essential lesson for All Elite to learn.

They couldn't ask for a better guy to deliver the message than the peerless skills of one Jim Ross on commentary.

Eventually, Bischoff would outright mention the WWF on his program, and that was something he wasn't doing in 1995. The loudest words were unspoken. AEW don't need to discuss WWE at all. They can make hay by talking up their own product and highlighting why it's first-rate.
