10 Things You Didn't Know About Randy Orton

4. He Was A Referee

Sandwiched between his embarrassing military past and his exceptional wrestling career, Randy Orton was paying his dues. While he got quite a boost from being the son of Bob Orton, Randy still had to learn the ins and outs of professional wrestling before getting his shot in the WWE. After making his debut in 2000 a Mid-Missouri Wrestling Association-Southern Illinois Conference Wrestling (MMWA-SICW for those of you keeping track at home), Orton worked as a referee for World Organized Wrestling. In addition to Orton working there as a ref, his uncle Barry Orton, who appeared in the WWF as an enhancement wrestler also worked in the territory. The referee gig was short lived, as Orton signed a WWE developmental deal months later, and was assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling. It wasn't the first time Orton had worn stripes, but surely a more positive experience than his prison sentence.
