10 Things You Didn't Know About Vince McMahon

3. He Wasn't The Only Owner Of WWE

Gorillamonsoon The story of how Vince McMahon bought WWE from his father in the early 1980s, his sights set on national (and then global) expansion, has been told many times. An interesting side note to the story is that, as per the terms of the purchase, McMahon was not the sole owner of WWE! The deal was that Vince got 50% of the company, while the remaining half was divided up amongst VJM confidants Gorilla Monsoon, Arnold Skaaland, and Phil Zacko. However, as soon as that deal was done, the younger McMahon undertook the first of what would be many, many buyouts. Taking a loan out from the bank, he offered each man $100,000 and a job for life with the company in exchange for his piece of the pie. All three of them agreed, and like that, WWE was Vince McMahon's baby. Though the other men's tenure of ownership was brief, it's very interesting to imagine what would have happened had they not been willing to sell to McMahon.
