4. Shawn€™s Nightclub Attack Was Very Different Than How WWF Presented It

It forced him to relinquish the Intercontinental Title, and led to the storyline where he was hit with an enziguri from Owen Hart and collapsed, suffering from post-concussion syndrome. However, like everything with WWF, there is a bit of fantasy mixed in with what really happened. The WWF wanted us to think Shawn was alone. That night, the British Bulldog and the 1-2-3 Kid were also involved in the incident, and Davey Boy Smith suffered a black eye. They also wanted to think that Shawn was jumped for no reason. In (alleged) reality, Shawn and the other guys got drunk, and Shawn tried to take a girl home. One of the GIs at the bar let him know that the girl was his girlfriend, but Shawn didn€™t seem to care. And according to reports, only one man beat up Shawn to the point of how he looked on television when he surrendered the title. Apparently, the one GI was arrested and forced to pay Shawn€™s medical bills. But obviously the WWF can€™t have its Intercontinental Champion and one of the biggest names in the company look like he can€™t win in a fight, so the story that was given to the public was that Shawn was beaten by multiple men.
