5. Crush€™s Arrest Wasn€™t Just A Storyline

1995 featured one of the earliest instances of WWF taking a real-life situation and turning it into a storyline. Fans may remember Crush returning in 1996 as an ex-con, with a tattoo on his forehead and Clarence Mason, a Johnnie Cochran lookalike, in his corner. Well, the ex-con gimmick wasn€™t just a gimmick. Police found steroids, weed, unregistered semi-automatic weapons and a stun-gun in his home. He was immediately fired by the WWF. Adams pled no contest to 11 of his 12 charges in October of that year, and he was sentenced to five years of probation, but he did a little time in the slammer as well.
