10 Things You Don’t Know About WWE In 1998

9. The NWA Was In The WWF Longer Than You Probably Remember

Looking back, it was actually pretty cool that the NWA, which eventually spawned WCW in the late 80s, appeared on WWF television. It wasn€™t as groundbreaking as having ECW appear on their shows in 1997, but old school wrestling nostalgia buffs probably got a kick out of it. Jeff Jarrett was the NWA North American Champion and The Rock N Roll Express were the NWA Tag Team Champions, appearing regularly on WWF television. The Headbangers defeated the Express on Raw in February to win the Tag Team Titles, and defended them weekly until losing them to the New Midnight Express of Bombastic Bob (Bob Holly) and Bodacious Bart (Bart Gun). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rey9y_C5Rc In a match that sounded grander on paper than it was in execution, the WWF Tag Team Champions The New Age Outlaws faced the NWA Tag Team Champions The New Midnight Express at King of the Ring. All in all, the NWA hung around for half of the year in 1998 when the New Midnight Express angle was dropped, Bob Holly joined the Job Squad, and Bart Gunn entered the Brawl for All tournament.
