10 Things Everybody Gets Wrong About ECW

7. The Crowds Kicked Off Fan Rebellion

Watch pretty much any wrestling show these days and you'll see at least a pocket of fans acting like high school jocks after a keg of beer. They'll boo the babyfaces, cheer the heels, reject any attempts at storytelling and display a cynical need to let WWE know they suck. The era of audience smart-assery has evolved to a whole new level.

Some might point to the antics of those old ECW crowds and blame them for this. After all, they did chant thinks like, "You F*cked Up" with glee when performers made mistakes, and they were partial to the odd "That Was Sh*t" chant when the violence wasn't up to par. Also, who could forget the delightful, "She's A Crackwhore" singalong?

The argument falls down when realising that ECW's core fanbase actually enjoyed what they were seeing for the most part, and they were encouraged to partake. The wrestlers were in on it, Heyman booked a style that catered to their tastes and everyone had fun. There weren't many people going to ECW shows only to stage a dummy-spitting protest.

ECW crowds were part of the magic rather than working against it.
