10 Things Everybody Got Wrong About WWE In 2016

6. The New Day Did Not Lose The WWE Tag Team Titles

By the beginning of 2016, it was already clear that The New Day were head and shoulders above every other tag team on WWE's roster. Despite the fact that they were heels, they were getting some of the best reactions in the entire company. They were also coming off a great ladder match victory over The Usos and The Lucha Dragons at TLC, extending their reign as champions to four months.

It's not surprising that The New Day kept having great matches, or that they turned face and became even more popular, or even that their merchandise outsold anyone else's over WrestleMania weekend. What we didn't see coming, though, was that nearly a year later, Xavier Woods, Big E, and Kofi Kingston are still on that same reign as WWE (now Raw) Tag Team Champions.

With nearly 16 months as champions behind them, The New Day are less than a week away from breaking the record for the longest tag team title reign in company history. That run, lasting 478 days, was set by Demolition in 1989. The New Day will tie it on Friday.

It's no surprise that the team has had such success, but in today's day and age, that kind of consistency with a title is stunning.
