John Cena is probably never going to turn heel. That is simply something that many wrestling fans refuse to accept. Both on and off the screen, Cena is a babyface in every way. Roughly half of the WWE Universe hates John Cena already and will still hate him as a heel, so the only thing that a heel turn would accomplish is the alienation of the thousands of young fans who pack out arenas every week. For them, Cena is a superhero and, although the potential is there for the biggest swerve in WWE history, there is little for WWE to gain. A heel turn would torpedo Cena's incredible work for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. It's impossible for someone who is a dastardly heel on Monday nights to be a hero to children for the rest of the week. Kayfabe might not be in place for WWE's adult audience, but there's at least some illusion of reality for the younger fans and that should not be shattered just for the sake of a couple of fresh storylines. It would also take more than a heel turn to make Cena interesting to the fans who consider him stale. A heel turn would just bring Cena back into the championship picture and would limit opportunities for younger villainous acts like Seth Rollins and Cesaro. It's something that a lot of fans want to see in principle, but John Cena as a heel just would not work in reality.
