10 Things We Learned From Dean Ambrose On Talk Is Jericho

10. The Origins Of His Name

WWE is often maligned by fans for taking established wrestlers and re-naming (and sometimes re-branding them entirely) when they make it to WWE. You can't really blame them though, as they're a huge publicly traded company that wants to own the rights to all the intellectual property they promote. They usually take guys who are closely identified with their names and their personas and give them a throwaway generic name. When Jon Moxley was rechristened Dean Ambrose most fans reacted with disgust, as if Jon Moxley was all that much better. But we learned that he actually had a decent amount of input behind the choosing of his name, with Dusty Rhodes being the deciding factor in convincing him to go with the moniker. Ambrose also gave the inside scoop on where Jon Moxley came from, stating that it was a mixture of his actual first name and one given to him by a promoter at the last minute during his early days, and after that it just stuck.
