10 Things We Learned From Dixie Carter's Podcast Interviews

7. She Thinks PPV Is Dying

It's no secret that the entire medium of pay-per-view is on the decline, thanks to several factors. In wrestling it's suffering because the WWE cannibalized their own PPV revenue with the creation of the Network. UFC's PPV business has been on the decline largely in part to oversaturation, and the ease of online piracy has affected the business as a whole. TNA was struggling to sell pay-per-views even at their healthiest point, so now that they've taken a step back it's a wise move to scale back on the number of shows they offer at an additional cost. But rather than come out and admit that, Dixie wisely points out the decline in the medium as a whole. She mentions that they've gone from 12 per year to just a few in 2014, highlighting that the One Night Only themed pre-taped shows have been successful for them and sees them doing more of those. Dixie predicts 3 or 4 live PPVs in 2015 and has no guess for how many 2016 will hold.
