10 Things We Learned From Dixie Carter's Podcast Interviews
3. The Difference In The Presentation
For viewers who tuned in to the first episode of Impact on Destination America, you saw a product that was visually different in terms of lighting, as much of the arena was darkly lit. Critics called this out as an obvious method of covering up a disappoint crowd turnout, but longtime fans were taken back to the glory days of dimly lit shows. Another change Carter plans to introduce to Impact is a reality show-type feel to the presentation. She shares her vision for the product by stating "We can't be a "version" of anyone else. We have to distinguish from TNA of the past. Social media changed everything. We have cameras all over the arena. The show will be much more loose. We'll react to real things behind-the-scenes. We want to have fun. We want to show people stuff they haven't seen before. Organic nuggets of reality. This will help distinguish us further." This is a very line for a wrestling company to walk. Historically, when the onscreen product has ventured too far into the "shoot" territory it's been to disastrous results. Hopefully TNA is aware of these dangers and treads carefully.
