10 Things Learned From Eric Bischoff's 1994 Timeline Of WCW

4. Ric Flair Was Extremely Frosty Over Halloween Havoc Retirement

A lot of pro wrestling fans are under the impression that 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair wasn't happy when Hulk Hogan entered WCW. In truth, Flair helped convince Hulk to sign on the dotted line, and was excited at the prospect of working alongside him. The pair had - for a variety of reasons - never worked a major Pay-Per-View encounter when both in the WWF. In the words of Eric Bischoff, the only issue Ric Flair had when working a program with Hulk Hogan was when he was asked to retire in storyline at Halloween Havoc. Naturally antsy about what this meant for his future, the grappling legend nonetheless went along with the angle. Even so, he wasn't best pleased about it. Right up until he went through the curtain, Bischoff had to convince the wrestler that it was the right thing to do. Looking back, it was a bit silly that Flair returned quickly after "retiring", but the story did add some drama to the rematch. Having earlier clashed at Bash At The Beach, Hogan and Flair needed some spice for another showdown. That said, maybe the Steel Cage gimmick would have been enough?
