10 Things Missing From WWE Today

1. The Element Of Surprise

Arguably, what WWE misses the most is another thing that simply isn't going to return any time soon. The internet and its ubiquity means that true surprises are no longer a thing in WWE, unless the fans themselves are willing to ignore the websites and just watch the product.

When Shane McMahon returned at the beginning of this year it was all the more effective for how well protected it was. Wrestling has always thrived on the element of surprise, but it has grown more and more difficult to implement it. Somehow WWE needs to find a way to bring this back.

How much more incredible would Goldberg's return have been if he had arrived out of nowhere during a Brock Lesnar/Paul Heyman talking segment? The Attitude Era was the pits, but that feeling of 'anything could happen' was arguably what made the then-WWF so vital at the time.

WWE would be in a much better position if it could somehow bring that back.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
