Ric Flair came to WWE in 1991 feeling marginalized by WCW, offended by Jim Herd and lacking confidence. McMahon welcomed him to the promotion by literally rolling out the red carpet and making sure Flair was seen as a big deal. Furthermore, Flair described his first stint with the WWE as The greatest year and a half of my career, outside the time I spent with Arn Anderson and The Four Horsemen. He was able to leave the company without burning bridges, and left feeling like The Man again. Subsequently, there was a time when Flair was new in the WWE where he was shockingly taking steroids due to being self-conscious about his body. When he asked Vince if his appearance was good enough, he said, Absolutely. Youre Ric Flair. It seems like thats all it took for Flair to become himself again. That fire was able to ignite Flair to another 15 years in wrestling. Its safe to say Flair may not be the same legend, he is had it not been for his early 90s WWE run. He got to ply his trade at the highest level possible. His time there was filled with spectacular moments and missed opportunities, but some feel the audience never took to him. Nevertheless, Flair proved his greatness in two organizations, and added a looked over, but important chapter to his 36 year odyssey in pro wrestling.
