10 Things You Need To Know About WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee

9. She Idolized Lita and Miss Elizabeth

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alX4vwZNhH8 By now, most have seen the footage of a young AJ Lee meeting WWE Diva during an autograph signing at WWE New York, a theme restaurant that sat in Times Square from 1999 until its bankruptcy in 2003. The young lady was overwhelmed with emotion as she stepped to the table to meet her idol, who greeted her with a big hug. As she told NorthJersey.com in 2012, she was inspired and influenced by strong female stars such as the fiery redhead, Molly Holly, Trish Stratus and Stephanie McMahon. While they may have inspired a young AJ to stand up for herself in the face of adversity, it was another legendary Diva that she looked to as the most graceful in company history. " I remember my first idol ever was Miss Elizabeth. She was so beautiful and classy, I wanted to grow up to be just like her," she wrote in her GloryWrestling.com profile. That AJ would become the centerpiece of a rivalry between CM Punk and Daniel Bryan in 2012 very much in the same way that Elizabeth was during the epic program that saw the explosion of the Mega Powers' Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage had to have been a dream come true. While "beautiful and classy" in 1989 and 2014 may be two entirely different things, the fact that AJ has never allowed herself to be portrayed as a sex object means she has managed to keep her dignity in a business that does not always allow it makes her an idol for many young female fans on today's WWE product. It is not a responsibility she takes lightly. "I€™m not going to be perfect. I€™m not that person, and I think little girls and people in general can appreciate that. I want to represent something that people can look up to, and hopefully I can do that even better now that I€™m in a position of power," she told ESPN.com.
