9. It Was Controversial When He Dressed As Mark Henry
In the summer of 1998, Degeneration X was locked into a hot feud with the Nation of Domination. During the July 6, 1998 edition of Raw, all the members of DX were dressed in outfits looking like a member of the Nation with Triple H dressed as The Rock (or "The Crock" as he called him) and then there was X-Pac. He was really noticeable while wearing a black chest protector that said "Mizark" on it and he also had black face paint. The black face paint was done to make him look like Mark Henry. What WWE didn't think about is that it is considered offensive to some people. It's one of those things that probably wouldn't make it on TV in WWE these days, but since it was the Attitude Era they likely didn't care about offending anybody. It's not something that is really talked about much at all. Few wrestlers have done it. It's one of those things where WWE could just brush it aside as comedy and say they didn't intend to offend anybody. He was just a performer doing his job. He was doing what he was told by Vince McMahon, Vince Russo, Ed Ferrara and other members of the creative team at the time. It's not something WWE should have done, but it was done for comedy so that was probably how they looked at it.
