10 Things Next Series WWE Ruthless Aggression Should Focus On

8. Viewing The Indies Differently

In the current WWE landscape, the indie scene has been publicly heralded for helping hapless wrestlers - some who squandered previous opportunities, and others who just needed a new coat of paint - and much footage from promotions such as Ring Of Honor can be seen on WWE documentaries and promo packages. However, for a long time, this was not always the case.

When CM Punk debuted on ECW, commentators would acknowledge his independent career, but quickly dismiss it by saying he was now in the big leagues. A few years later, when Daniel Bryan had made his way onto the awful original concept of NXT, Michael Cole disparaged Daniel Bryan’s wrestling chops on-air, claiming that he was nothing but an ‘internet darling,’ heavily implying that the only product that mattered was the one we were watching.

CM Punk and Daniel Bryan did much to change the perception of non-WWE wrestling, and by the time AJ Styles debuted in 2016, he was welcomed with open arms and his past on the indies and even TNA was discussed.

Of course, with no real competition, WWE needed to change its views, but who were personally responsible for this? Many top superstars have these individuals to thank for the alteration of the glass ceiling, and some public recommendations wouldn’t go amiss.
