4. WrestleMania 39 Was Chapter One
Most fans saw WrestleMania 39 as the end point for Roman Reigns' double-champ run and the culmination of a lifelong dream for Cody Rhodes. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, WWE's top decision-makers viewed the blockbuster PLE as an opening salvo for things to come.
Cody vs. Roman II is coming, and there could be a third bout waiting after that too.
Raw showed the way for this by having Rhodes demand a rematch with Reigns. The top babyface didn't make excuses, but did point to interference from The Usos and Solo Sikoa as reasons why Roman survived with his title reigns intact, then pivoted towards a tag-team match when The Bloodline refused to play ball.
This is all stalling on WWE's part. They will put Rhodes and Reigns inside a ring on pay-per-view again, and they could already have one eye on SummerSlam as the end point for one of 2023's biggest stories. Before then, Cody will have to tangle with a 'Beast'.
