10 Things Pro Wrestling Is Still Terrible At

7. Booking Without Authority Figures

There was a brief period there when WWE booked without authority figures, but that was never going to last long. Adam Pearce, previously only seen when "officials" needed to break up a brawl that had spiralled out of control, has been slotted right into a soft role as match-maker on Raw and SmackDown.

Nobody has explained how that happened.

Again, this is less of an issue in AEW. There, owner Tony Khan rarely shows face, and he's not one to come out on stage to announce main events or cut down heels. Long may that continue, 'cause it'd be unnecessary at best and eye-rolling stuff at worst. Pearce's WWE dominion is baffling.

Wrestling has relied on authority figures since Vince McMahon vs. Steve Austin hit big in the late-'90s. The problem is that nobody has been able to top that (most don't even come close), and the trope is one of grappling's laziest.
