4. Stating TNA Would Match WWE Within 6 Months
When Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff came into power with TNA in late-2009, it seemed that all of a sudden people were expected to believe that the company could feasibly challenge WWE for the top spot in the wrestling world. Obviously, reality was very, very different, but that was the mantra being spouted by all and sundry involved with TNA. Upon hooking up with the promotion in 2010, Ric Flair started to talk candidly to the media about his belief that the promotion were on the cusp of greatness, and that it wouldn't be long before people were talking about TNA in the same breath as Vince McMahon's juggernaut. Flair wasn't alone with this, both Hogan and even Kurt Angle hyped things up inexplicably. Sure, promoting your company is great, but Ric Flair's assertions that TNA would be on par with WWE by the Summer of 2010 was woefully ill-advised. Even worse, Flair said that TNA hadn't been doing things right up until now, which many fans disagreed with - for many, TNA was far better before 2010.
