Their epic Match of the Year candidate at Battleground may have been billed as their “final battle,” but does anyone really believe that we’ve seen the last of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens’ years-long rivalry?

The two have been constantly at each other’s throats since Owens turned on his long-time partner Zayn in Ring of Honor back in December 2009. Their war has traversed multiple promotions en route to making it to WWE’s main roster, and while their Battleground match would be a fitting ending, it’s tough to bury years of bad blood with a single pinfall.

The Brand Split took both Owens and Zayn to Raw, and with three hours of TV time to fill every week, they’re going to have to bump into one another sooner or later. Splitting them would’ve sent a clear message that they were well and truly done with one another, but keeping them together suggests that Battleground wasn’t quite as final as WWE would like you to believe.

There’s also the fact that both wrestlers have been treading water since their final match, with Owens teaming with Chris Jericho and Zayn completely absent from last week’s Raw. WWE are clearly struggling for things to do with two of their most talented roster members at the moment, and they may yet throw them back together for that reason alone.

Whatever the case, it’s extremely likely that their feud will be reignited before WrestleMania, and what better stage for a big blowoff than the Grandaddy of Them All?
