6. The NWO
A reminder of what the much-maligned Invasion angle should have been, the black-and-white trio of Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Hollywood Hulk Hogan finally appeared on WWE television in February of 2002. The fans were elated to see these three legends back in a WWE ring, and even more excited at the possibilities of their matches with some of the top guys in the company.
Unfortunately, it didn't work the way it was supposed to.
To start, the fans could not stop cheering for Hulk Hogan, even though he was supposed to be a heel. As a result, WWE had him back in the iconic red-and-yellow after about a month.
Secondly, Scott Hall was gone from the company after just three months, partially due to his ongoing struggle with alcoholism.
Third, Kevin Nash kept getting injured. Shortly after his debut, he suffered a biceps injury that shelved him for a few weeks, then tore his quadriceps muscle immediately upon returning.
Couple this with arbitrarily adding new members, like X-Pac, Big Show, and Shawn Michaels, and removing members like Booker T within weeks, and WWE's nWo was dead in the water. By July, Vince McMahon declared that they were no more.
