2. Botching A Shooting Star Press And Finishing The Match
Brock Lesnar won the 2003 Royal Rumble Match and faced off against Kurt Angle at WrestleMania XIX for the WWE Championship. During that match, fans bore witness to one of the most shocking mistakes in WrestleMania history. Brock Lesnar ascended the top turnbuckle and attempted a Shooting Star Press onto Kurt Angle. However, there were two problems with this move: first, Kurt Angle was far further out than Brock could jump, and second, Lesnar second-guessed himself and didnt get a good enough of a rotation. Thus, when he landed, Brock landed on his head, just barely touching Kurts ribcage. From the point of view of the cameras, it looked like Brock had seriously injured himself, possibly even broken his neck. Thankfully, however, he only received a concussion (which is still a bad injury, but not as bad as a broken neck). The ironic thing was that Brock had performed the Shooting Star Press on multiple occasions on OVW without trouble. This was the incident that would lead to Brock being banned from ever using the move again. For Brock to sustain that kind of an injury and still keep wrestling is testament to the mans endurance. Despite an improvised finish, Lesnar managed to get through the grueling match as required, and the outcome was still the same: Lesnar won the WWE Championship. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8EzGzE9zYQ Few people Brocks size can perform a move as technically difficult as a Shooting Star Press, and fewer still can botch the move and keep wrestling, even after a concussion. One of Brocks nicknames in WWE is the anomaly; clearly he demonstrated why he deserved that name in this instance.
