10 Things That Made Brock Lesnar "The Beast"

3. The Iron Man Match With Kurt Angle

WWE has a lot of different match types, with some rarer than others. The more exotic match types are usually reserved for the culmination of a feud, such as Hell in a Cell, Last Man Standing, etc. But there is one match type that is very rare these days in WWE, a match that symbolizes toughness, endurance, and finality: The Iron Man Match. On September 18th, 2003, Brock Lesnar faced off against Kurt Angle in a 60-minute Iron Man Match for the WWE Championship. The two of them already had a great feud, including a fantastic match at WrestleMania XIX (more on that later). After Angle made Brock Lesnar tap-out to his Ankle Lock at Summer Slam 2003, Lesnar was dead-set on avenging his loss and submission. To this day, that Iron Man Match is considered among many fans to be the greatest match in SmackDown History. It started off with Lesnar getting himself intentionally DQ'd, in order to weaken Kurt, allowing Lesnar to score the next 3 falls. However, Angle, like Lesnar, simply wouldn€™t give up, and by the time the clock reached the final two minutes, it was 5-4 for Lesnar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D51n5TZY2o4 At that point, Lesnar was very close to winning, but despite everything he could throw at Angle, including low-blowing him, Kurt still locked in the Ankle Lock and grapevined Lesnar€™s leg. Despite Angle€™s best efforts, Lesnar somehow managed to survive the Ankle Lock long enough for the timer to run out, leaving the match as WWE Champion. Iron Man Matches are extremely rare these days; the last time one took place in WWE was John Cena vs. Randy Orton at Bragging Rights 2009. Lesnar is one of the few tough-as-nails Superstars who managed to survive 60 minutes of nonstop wrestling against arguably the greatest technical wrestler in the world at that time. If that doesn€™t make Lesnar a beast, I don€™t know what does.
