10 Things That Must Happen At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 11
4. The Bridesmaid Becomes The Bride
There is a school of thought amongst some WWE fans that the ship has sailed on Dolph Ziggler becoming a bona fide main event performer. He has failed to win the big one on so many occasions that every new hint at a big push is met with rolled eyes and a certain sense of despair. All the goodwill has long since dissipated.
For those of you who aren't familiar with the world of New Japan, Hirooki Goto makes Dolph Ziggler look like a consistent big match winner. Goto has had nine IWGP Heavyweight Championship shots, and on nine occasions he has come up short. His entire 2016 story revolved around yet another big loss, one that led to him reluctantly joining the CHAOS stable.
At Wrestle Kingdom 11 Goto will challenge childhood friend Katsuyori Shibata for the NEVER Openweight Championship, and this may well represent the last chance saloon for Hirooki. Shibata is destined for bigger things in 2017, and a long NEVER title run could be just what Goto needs.
