10 Things That Must Happen At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 11

5. The Ace Of The Juniors

Many may assume that Hiromu Takahashi (formerly Kamaitachi) will pick up the win and IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship in his return bout against KUSHIDA, but the smarter move may well be keeping the title on the Ace of the junior division. KUSHIDA has only recently won the title back after losing it to BUSHI after all.

KUSHIDA has clearly been positioned as the number one performer in the junior division, and whilst Takahashi is going to be a key component of that division everyone will be better off with KUSHIDA continuing on top. It is great to see more native talent in important positions in the junior heavyweight division.

Alternatively Takahashi could win the title, allowing KUSHIDA to slowly make his way out of the junior division. Many have speculated that KUSHIDA may find himself in the 2017 G1 Climax, and losing the title here would be a clear indicator of bigger things to come for him. Wrestling is very strange.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
