10 Things That Must Happen At WWE Super Show-Down
9. John Cena Sets Up A New Long-Term Storyline
Up next on the list of "glorified house show" matches is the team of Kevin Owens and Elias against Bobby Lashley and a returning John Cena. Granted, KO and Elias are currently feuding with Lashley at the story's periphery, but this match was announced way before the fact. Thus, the main source of intrigue is the television return of John Cena. Taking time away to deal with his crumbling relationship and film a Jackie Chan movie in China, Big Match John hasn't been seen or heard from since April, save for an odd house show appearance.
Cena's in a weird place nowadays. Given that he's true-blue part-timer who shows up whenever, it's become difficult to predict what his trajectory is as far as opponents or storylines. While he could always be programmed with other part-timers, that's a no-go at the moment since Brock Lesnar has one foot out the door, and Triple H, The Undertaker, and Kane are all about to have a massive program that involves Shawn Michaels.
Where does that leave Cena? Who knows, but let's hope that at Super Show-Down, we get some sort of indication of what's next for the Franchise. While it's true that he'll be staying in China for a few more months, that doesn't mean WWE can't tease us with what's in store for Big Match John come Rumble season.
