10 Things That MUST Happen Before AEW Full Gear 2022
1. Kevin Steen Wins The Owen Hart Cup
Right?
The timing of Kevin Owens' current WWE contract expiration date and launch of the inaugural Owen Hart Cup could match up wonderfully. Owens' deal is due for renewal on 31 January; though a start date for the tournament is yet to be revealed, it would be classic AEW if they held off on revealing this until finalising a deal with Kevin themselves.
For Owens to stay with WWE, they'd have to make some serious changes over the next two months. He's done nearly everything there, has seen the success his friends have had since departing Vince McMahon's empire, and would fit the mantra of All Elite Wrestling perfectly. He's a natural fit, really, not only for the Tony Khan-helmed company, but for the Owen Hart Cup.
He's the only right fit.
KO is such an Owen Hart mark that he named his son after the 'King Of Harts'. He's a dedicated fanboy; this is the guy who never wants to be Intercontinental Champion again because he and Owen currently have two reigns apiece with the same cumulative days as champion. Owen Hart is far more than just an idol for Kevin Owens.
The only thing preventing this from occurring is the former Universal Champion re-signing with WWE. He won't, though, surely.
Kevin Steen is winning that trophy.
