10 Things That Must Happen In NJPW In 2018

5. Sign Jeff Cobb

Is there a gaijin more perfectly suited to New Japan than Jeff Cobb?

The big guy from Guam made his debut in the recently completed World Tag League, and it took him all of 20 seconds to get over with the crowd. The formula is simple, and Cobb fits it to a tee. Simply put him in the ring and let him throw around his opponents with ease.

Jeff Cobb is shaping up to be one of the biggest talents outside of WWE, if he isn’t already. With international expansion in mind, New Japan would be wise to sign the former Lucha Underground Champion up to a deal. With Michael Elgin’s days numbered, Cobb is the rightful man to take over his role as ‘immensely strong babyface gaijin’.

Kenny Omega needs to lose the IWGP United States Championship at some point, and Cobb could be the right man to take over that title. It is easy to imagine him throwing around opponents big and small, and he could well add further prestige to the new championship.

Either way, he needs to be signed to the company.
