10 Things That Nearly Happened At WWE Survivor Series

3. Ultimate Warrior Replaced By Mr. Perfect In 1992 Tag Team Match

One of the biggest matches at Survivor Series 1992 was supposed to "The Ultimate Maniacs" duo of Randy Savage and the Ultimate Warrior teaming up to face Ric Flair and Razor Ramon. The match was promoted heavily, after Warrior had made a surprise return to WWE earlier in 1992 and formed an alliance with Savage. There were apparently plans in place to make Warrior a top guy again. Plans changed a couple of weeks before the match when Mr. Perfect turned face (after being a heel aligned with Flair) and ended up teaming with Savage, instead of Warrior. The reason for the change is because Warrior was using performance enhancing drugs. There have been several different stories about what happened in that period, with McMahon saying in WWE's most recent Warrior documentary that Warrior was caught using growth hormone. At that time, WWE was dealing with a steroid trial, so Vince McMahon was forced to take action against Warrior even though it was a significant loss to the company. It's a shame that the Warrior/Savage pairing didn't last longer because they made a great team. Their match with Ramon and Flair would have been a blinder, but the replacement was pretty much 'Perfect' anyway.
