10 Things That Prove 2017 Is WWE's Weirdest Year Ever

You could have called Goldberg's 2017 World title run on the night after Survivor Series, to be fair. That was when the former WCW star, riding high from his 80-second victory over Brock Lesnar, announced that he would be sticking around a little while yet.

But when wrestling fans of the future look back at this year, they will see a 50-year-old holding the World title for the first time since Vince McMahon decided in 1999 that he was the man to give credibility to the WWF Championship.

What's really remarkable is that there weren't really too many complaints; the majority of fans prepared to accept Kevin Owens' swift, Y2J-assisted defeat at Fastlane, and the notion that Goldberg - however long in the tooth - was an adversary worthy of facing the man who ended Undertaker's WrestleMania streak on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

And, well, it was kind of awesome. WWE learned its lesson from 2003, and booked Goldberg the way he was always supposed to be booked: short, action-packed matches and minimal fluff.
