10 Things That Would Be Happening In WWE If Fans Could Vote

1. The End Of PG

WWE

WWE shifted to a PG rating in 2008, and while the change has certainly diluted the company’s product to a certain degree, it’d be hyperbole to say it’s the root cause of all WWE’s current problems.

The past 8 years have seen WWE undergo a complete rebranding from an edgy, alternative form of entertainment to a clean cut, family friendly television show. PG has benefited WWE in a number of ways but harmed them in others, and if the fans were given a say, the company’s TV rating would be one of the first things up for debate.

Certain sects yearn for a return to a risque Attitude Era-style promotion, while others just want to see the end of predictable storylines and risk-averse wrestling styles. There are plenty of viable arguments on both sides of the equation, and it’s a debate worth having regardless of the outcome.

There’s little to no chance of the current regime ever abandoning PG. Toning things down has dumbed WWE television down to a certain degree, but returning to a more adult-orientated show would absolutely turn much of the company’s younger audience members away. It may be the shot in the arm that WWE’s lost fans need to reignite their passion for the business, but moving away from PG is a double-edged sword, and a decision wrought with risks.
