10 Things That Would Be Happening In WWE If Fans Could Vote

2. Less Talk, More Action

The days of horrendous 30-minute Authority segments opening Raw every week are dead and buried, but it’s still rare to see either major show open with anything but a talking segment. The participants have changed, but the format is still very much intact, and both shows are still dominated by interviews and promos rather than matches.

The problem is particularly pronounced on Raw, where desperate writers are forced to concoct a number of meaningless angles to pad-out the show’s bloated 3-hour format. Fans are lucky to see more than one 10+ minute match on weekly television these days, with WWE opting to instead fill airtime with recycled 15-minute New Day promos and the Shining Stars trying to flog dodgy timeshares.

Fans have been crying for a shift away from sports entertainment and back towards traditional wrestling for years. It’d be daft to completely strip the sport’s theatrics away, but surely a 10-15 minute Sami Zayn match would be a better way to fill airtime than forcing fans to sit through another tiresome Stephanie McMahon diatribe? For better or worse, the soap opera aspect would take a significant hit if the fans were stakeholders.
