10 Things That Would Be Happening In WWE If Fans Could Vote
9. Huge NXT Call-Ups
Though they learned their craft elsewhere, most of Raw & SmackDown’s top stars came through the Performance Center. Sasha Banks, Charlotte, Finn Balor, Kevin Owens: WWE’s main roster is crammed with workers who starred for NXT before going mainstream, and while developmental still produces the odd dud (hi, Dana Brooke), it’s also responsible for building the bulk of WWE’s core roster.
Wrestlers are often stuck in NXT for far longer than necessary, however. Balor and Bayley, for example, were ready for their main roster promotion at least six months before it happened, and the current NXT roster is full of similar examples. Shinsuke Nakamura, Samoa Joe, Asuka: these athletes and more have proven their ability to deliver in a WWE ring. They shouldn’t be wrestling in front of 200 people on the NXT house show circuit anymore, but dazzling audiences on a global scale.
The aforementioned trio would be among the first call-ups, but WWE’s roster would soon be flooded with NXT faces. Who could possibly argue that the likes of Bobby Roode and Austin Aries aren’t better suited to playing a big role on Raw or SmackDown at this point? They’re among WWE’s most capable entertainers, and would be right at home on either brand.
