10 Things That Would Be Happening In WWE If Fans Could Vote

3. New Announce Teams

JBL Mauro Ranallo David Otunga
WWE Network

WWE have some immensely talented announcers on their books at the moment. Mauro Ranallo is one of the best play-by-play broadcasters in any sport, Corey Graves gets closer and closer to Bobby Heenan every week, and Tom Phillips is clear, composed, and incredibly professional. All three are a credit to the company, but they’re not used to the best of their abilities.

Why? Just look at their partners. Graves is paired with company men Michael Cole and Byron Saxton on Raw, while Ranallo (and soon Phillips) shares the booth with the increasingly obnoxious JBL, and whatever David Otunga is supposed to be.

WWE completely negate their strongest announcers by pairing them with guys that aren’t very good at the job, and it’s time to fix that. Phillips and Graves have proven on NXT that they’re an excellent team with great chemistry, and should be given the opportunity to anchor Raw or SmackDown. Mauro, meanwhile, deserves a smart, articulate colour commentator beside him, and not JBL’s boorishness.

It’d mean no more John O’Clock, but it’d be worth it. Outside of individual praise for Graves and Ranallo, you’ll struggle to find a WWE fan who enjoys the company’s current commentary situation. They’d quickly take a hatchet to Raw & SmackDown’s lagging announce teams, and install duos that push the stories forward rather than detract from them.
