Vince McMahon is still the head of Raw and SmackDown. Kevin Dunn will remain in control of what both shows look like. Stephanie McMahon will keep heading up creative. Michael Cole will still be the voice of Raw. None of these things will be changing within the next four years (barring anything drastic). WWE is not going to dismantle their “sports entertainment” philosophy to bring back “wrestling.” This is the team that Vince thinks will be best for the wrestling world.

Likewise, a PG-14 program is not coming back anytime soon. The advertisers have spoken, and more importantly, their money has spoken. Airing a show that is more family friendly than adult oriented is going to bring in higher ad rates. The business would have to explode in other segments to make up for a move back to an Attitude Era-like show.

Fans may be frustrated with WWE’s product, but we haven't seen anything from Vince suggesting that he's about to blow up the entire system. He probably believes that the smaller changes he's given us over the years will lead to long-term growth. He may be right, but the company seems to have taken a few steps backwards before being able to truly move forward.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
